Whale "Finger" Bone
Did you know that whales have fingers? They have
bone structures inside their fins that are leftover from the days when
they walked on land some 50 million+ years ago. I had speculated on
which actual bone here, and had only a general idea of what animal, then
five minutes later got a message from the Calvert Marine Museum. It is a
phalanx from a baleen whale. Parvorder Mysticeti. Found in Virginia.
