Did You Know? DIno Teeth
Dinosaurs shed teeth like sharks. When they became too dull to use, the dinosaur would spit them out. Thus, the shed teeth are called "spitters." These triceratops teeth were worn flat and replaced by the next teeth in rows under each socket. The spitters shown here in the top picture are from the Tooth Draw Quarry West, Hell Creek Formation, South Dakota.
The bottom picture shows a triceratops jaw with the rows of teeth below the gum line showing.
